What kind of yarn is it?
Merino fibre is an excellent insulator, so clothes made from this yarn keep you warm when it gets cold and stay light and breathable at the same time. Our merino measures 19.5 microns — that is the thickness of a single fibre. The fewer microns, the finer the fibre and the less your skin notices it; above roughly 25 microns the fibre turns stiff and you start to feel it. That is why most people do not find our merino scratchy — it is often chosen by people with sensitive skin. If you are allergic to wool, we suggest a short test wear first.
How does it feel?
Merino yarn is exceptionally soft and gentle to the touch, which makes it a great choice for clothes worn right against the skin. Our merino is a very high quality yarn. If ordinary wool "scratches" you, this one will win you over.
Colours?
We have 16 of them. If you are a beige kind of person ;-) there are three shades waiting for you. If you like colour loud, go for cobalt, fuchsia or raspberry. Janusz likes the yellow best — it reminds him of the shade he wanted to paint his first motorbike. Fans of the classics will find something too.

Certificates?
Every merino yarn we use carries the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certificate — meaning it has been tested for substances harmful to health. On top of that we order “RWS first”: if a given colour is available in a version certified to the Responsible Wool Standard (sheep welfare and responsible pastures), that is the one we take. Not every shade has RWS — then it is OEKO-TEX alone. The certificates belong to our yarn supplier.

What kind of yarn is it?
An Italian yarn made of 83% alpaca (the fine grade), 15% polyamide and 2% elastane, which keep everything in shape and stop the garment from stretching out. Alpaca fibre is hollow inside — a bit like a tiny thermos — so it warms strongly at surprisingly little weight. It contains no lanolin, which quite a few people react to. We do not quote a micron count for alpaca — the spinning mill declares the fine grade but does not confirm a specific number, and we would rather not invent one.
How does it feel?
Fluffy, hairy, uneven — more of a “cloud” than a smooth knit. The yarn is finished by hand, so the shade can vary slightly between batches. On light colours you will sometimes spot a single darker hair, and on dark ones a light one — that is what natural alpaca fibre looks like, and it is not a fault.
Colours?
Five. Four of them are the colours alpacas wear in the Andes — white, brown, grey and black — and here we dye nothing at all. The fifth is light blue and it is the only dyed alpaca shade we have. We made an exception because you kept asking for something lighter than beiges and greys.

How to care for it?
By hand, in lukewarm water (up to 30 °C), with wool detergent, inside out. Dry flat — not on a hanger, because alpaca likes to stretch. Washing machine and tumble dryer are out. Instead of ironing: steam from a safe distance.
Is it safe?
The yarn is made for us by the Italian spinning mill Pinori Filati. It meets the requirements of the European regulation REACH — the same one that makes sure textiles are free of substances harmful to health. The fibre itself is natural and biodegradable, while the polyamide and elastane add durability and stretch.
